Philanthropy

Official Philanthropy - Arthritis Research

This cause was chosen because it is the leading cause of disability for women. It can affect women of all ages. Since adopting Arthritis Research as its international philanthropy in 1967, nationally, Alpha Omicron Pi has raised over $2 million for grants and research. Collegians are encouraged to participate in annual fund-raisers usually to raise funds for Arthritis research. In 2011, AOΠ established a partnership with The Arthritis Foundation to further their philanthropic goals.

Though Arthritis Research is the international philanthropy, chapters often support other local or national causes.  The Zeta Psi chapter's local philanthropy is the Pitt Country Animal Shleter.

Go Blue Week

The last week in October, AOΠ turned ECU's campus blue for Athritis Awarness.  We had a table set up in a very popular area on campus where we passed out flyers about arthritis, sold tickets to our Fall Fest event, had a board for people to write names of those affected by arthritis, and giveaways for small donations for Arthritis Research.

Pi's & Paws Spring 2017

We teamed up with Pi Kappa Alpha to work with our local philanthropy, the Pitt Country Animal Shelter.  We hosted a pet-a-puppy event on campus where people could donate to pet and play with some of the dogs available for adoption at the animal shelter.

Cookout for Arthritis

This Spring we are trying a new event called Cookout for Arthritis! We plan to have classic cookout foods and desserts. All the money we raise will go to the National Arthritis Foundation!

Relay for Life Spring 2017

Every year, we partake in ECU's Relay for Life. This year, the Relay theme is Disney Pixar.  We are teaming up with Tau Kappa Epsilon with our theme of Beauty and the Beast. We are raffling off Chance the Rapper concert tickers and all money will go to the American Cancer Society.

Mothers Brunch Cruise Raffle

This Spring at our Mothers Brunch, we will be raffling off a 5 night/4 day cruise for 2! All the money raised will be going to the National Arthritis Foundation. We raised over $1000 this year from the cruise raffle!
